- OSSD is a registered charity (#14067 9754 RR0001) and that 75% of the actual costs of its programming is covered by tuition. OSSD relies on grants and donations to make up the difference.
- OSSD has grown from 794 (2002/3) to 1725 (2010/11 estimate) annual registrations. The operating budget has increased from $418,982 (2002/3) to $930,000 (2010/11).Approximately 50 different classes are held weekly. There are 25 one and two week summer camps and 4 March Break camps. That's a lot of programming in demand by the citizens of Ottawa! That a lot of revenue being generated in the city of Ottawa!
- OSSD is a major employer of arts professionals, hiring 40-50 instructors a year.
- Working with the landlord, OSSD constructed a new arts facility in 2005, visited by thousands of people annually. All construction costs have been re-paid.
- OSSD is listed as in the city's own 20/20 Arts and Heritage 5 Year Plan Progresss Report as helping to meet key arts facility and infrastructure needs. OSSD is an important community resource!
