OSSD News Room Mayshowcase 2007

In April, our graduating class of Pre-Professional students performed in “The Grace of Mary Traverse”, by Timberlake Wertenbaker. The Natalie Stern Studio Theatre was transformed by 18th century mores and dress for this complex production. The sold out run clearly rang a chord with our audiences as it asked timely questions about what people are willing to do to attain, and retain, power in our society.

Our spring semester was a great success – there were over 500 students registered at OSSD. From April 24 – 30th, we ran 30 Open House sessions, which was a great opportunity to see an amazing amount of creative energy, as well as to enjoy a few refreshments with friends. From pre-school story telling to a hot dance from “A Chorus Line”, to our senior youth poems and monologues, I was very impressed by the range of work being done at OSSD. It was great to see so many people out for the presentations, and to be reminded of how many different ways there are to get involved at the school.

Following the Open Houses, we launched into May Showcase. It has been an amazing spring of exciting youth theatre, best expressed in some of these great photos of a few memorable moments. And a reminder: you can purchase complete CD’s of photos for Into the Woods, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and See, Hear!  from the office.
