Ottawa School of Art
The Ottawa School of Art is an educational center for the visual arts providing the community with the opportunity for creative expression, development and growth based on an orderly progression in knowledge and skills. Within a well-defined program, it offers high quality instruction to all levels through direct involvement with professional artists.
Dovercourt Recreation Association (DRA)
Dovercourt Recreation Association (DRA) is a not for profit charitable organization formed in 1977 dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our community through recreation programs and services. In 1983, the City of Ottawa began work on the planning of a new community centre to replace the Westboro Community Centre. DRA was actively involved in the process, and when the new centre opened in 1987, Dovercourt was given the responsibility of managing the new centre through a purchase of service agreement.
In this agreement, the City identifies services it expects Dovercourt to provide to the community, and provides annual cash funding and the use of the centre. While we are part of the City of Ottawa’s recreation service delivery system, the community is empowered to choose what programs and services it runs to meet the community’s needs, and how those programs and services are delivered. The City gets a high level of customer satisfaction and a cost per user significantly lower than centres managed directly by the City of Ottawa.
The School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa
The School of the Photographic Arts:
Ottawa's mission is to furnish the resources, environment, tools and instruction to develop the students' signature style, hone their photographic skills, and cultivate their visual literacy.
Our motto is Vision, Content and Craft.
SPAO was created to deliver intensive photographic training. The full-time curriculum is portfolio driven and designed with the committed student of photography in mind. The part-time studies offered are geared to many levels of experience, but still share an intensity of concentration, and emphasis on craft and execution, with the full-time program.
The Savoy Society of Ottawa
Founded in 1975, The Savoy Society of Ottawa is an organization of people who share a common interest in performing the comic operas of Sir William S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan. The name "Savoy" is taken from the London Theatre of the same name, where Gilbert and Sullivan's operas were performed in the late 19th century.
